πŸ†˜ Troubleshoot

Chuck here β€” yes, the fella in the pigeon suit, and yes, I'm in charge of fixing things. Something not working? Don't throw the computer. Press the big buttons below, one at a time. We got this.

πŸŽ™οΈ Test 1 β€” Your Microphone

Press the big red button, then talk like you mean it. Watch the bar move.

Chuck's listening… soon as you press that button.

If Chuck can't hear you, try this:

  1. Say YES to the browser. A little box asked "can this site use your microphone?" β€” the answer has to be yes. Already clicked Block? Click the tiny mic/camera icon at the left end of the address bar up top, switch it to Allow, then run the test again.
  2. Pick the right mic. Computers love listening to the wrong one. Head over to the Green Room β€” it has a microphone picker. Choose the mic you're actually talking into.
  3. Check the mic itself. Headsets and laptops hide little mute switches and buttons. If yours has one, flip it β€” then test again.

πŸ“· Test 2 β€” Your Camera

Press the button. If you see your own face, we're in business.

🐦Your picture shows up here
Chuck's ready to see you. Button's right up there.

If Chuck sees a black screen, try this:

  1. Say YES to the browser β€” same as the mic: the little camera icon at the left end of the address bar, switch it to Allow, test again.
  2. Close the other app. Only one program can use the camera at a time. If Zoom, Teams, OBS or anything like that is open, shut it and press the button again.
  3. Laptop? Lots of them have a tiny privacy slider right next to the camera. Slide it open. USB camera? Plug the cable straight into the computer β€” not a hub, not a dock.

πŸ“‘ Test 3 β€” Your Connection

This checks whether your computer can reach the studio and the guest room from right here.

πŸŽ™οΈβ€¦ I mean πŸ“‘ β€” the studio line hasn't been tested yet.
πŸšͺ The guest room line hasn't been tested yet.
Two lines. Press the button and Chuck checks both.

If a line fails:

  1. Refresh this page and run the test one more time. Honest to God, that fixes half of everything.
  2. Check your wifi β€” is it on, and is it YOUR wifi?
  3. Still red? The note on the red line tells you if it's your end or ours. If it's ours, give it a minute β€” the crew's on it.

πŸ”§ Chuck's Top Fixes

The greatest hits. Most trouble dies right here:

  1. "They can't hear me." 99 times out of 100 it's the wrong mic picked. Green Room β†’ microphone picker β†’ choose the one you're wearing.
  2. "There's an echo / I sound like a robot." Wear headphones. Your speakers are shouting straight into your own mic and they argue.
  3. "My guest can't hear me." Find the mute button. In the studio it's the red one β€” red means OFF. Click it.
  4. "My picture froze." Refresh the page. Half the computer problems in the world die on a refresh. Chuck counted.
  5. "They hear me but see nothing." Your camera is off β€” or that little privacy cover is closed. Check both, then run Test 2.

πŸ†˜ Still Stuck?

Then you've out-fixed the Troubleshoot page, and Chuck tips his beak to you. Live help rides here when we launch β€” real humans backing Chuck up, speaking plain, no robot phone menus. For now, this page is the crew.

One thing before you go: run the three tests up top one more time. Whichever line stays red is the exact thing to tell us β€” it saves everybody ten minutes.

And the last resort, carved in stone over Chuck's desk: "When in doubt, call the drunken raccoon." 🦝
